Northern Ballet’s Physio team to the rescue

Preparations are well underway for our Open House 2014 on Saturday 15 February and we can’t wait to welcome you to explore our home and discover more about life behind-the-scenes at Northern Ballet and Phoenix Dance Theatre.

During the day our resident Physiotherapists are on hand to offer completely free mini-Physiotherapy consultations. Chartered Physiotherapist Liz Atha tells us what to expect.

This summer Leeds International Piano Competition is presenting Me & My Piano, an exciting art installation coming to the city of Leeds. Running from 22 August - 10 September 12 pianos will be placed around the city free for the public to play and engage with.

Summer holidays are here!

The summer holidays are upon us again and we’re sure that children and adults alike are looking forward to a well-deserved break!

Here in the Learning Department, our work continues throughout the holidays and we’re busy planning for our Summer Course for 7 – 11 year olds, which will take place from 24 – 27 August.

Adult Summer Courses 2015

Just because the sun comes out (fingers crossed!) doesn't mean we have to stop dancing! Over the summer we will be running extra classes for adults wanting to dance in the sunshine.

Introducing...Ability

After weeks of discussing, planning, filming and refining, our film Introducing…Ability is finally complete. Creating a dance film was completely new to all the dancers and it was the first time Sophie and I had worked this way with a group together. Sophie said, 'It was a learning curve for all of us and a process we’d all like to repeat.'

The START Project

Since November last year, the Learning Team have been delivering the START project to 21 schools from across the region, engaging children who don’t normally have access to the arts, with ballet and live theatre.

Making a film - Week five

At the start of this week’s session we watched footage from last week and began to discuss a structure for the film. We thought of what might create an exciting beginning and what would keep our audience interested.  I played the footage with and without music to make the participants think about how this changed the feeling of the footage.
