This page is about our Open Easter course, click here information about our Academy's International Easter course When Because of the different times across Yorkshire of the Easter break this year we are holding two easter courses so no one misses out.
I have recently been on a two day training course with Stopgap Dance Company exploring inclusive dance teaching. It was an inspiring couple of days and I really enjoyed meeting different teachers and dancers from across Yorkshire. The time and space to work with different teachers allowed me to research deeper in to different techniques to ensure our offer of dance at Northern Ballet is accessible, innovative and inspiring.
We are exploring new ways of engaging people with learning more about ballet through online applications. We have been working with Bedford Interactive through funding from the Arts Council England to develop software and content that can be used to develop dance appreciation skills and we would like feedback on using it. We'd like you to try out the app and tell us what you think.
Last week Arts Council England outlined its Creative Case for Diversity. In his launch speech the Chair of Arts Council England, Sir Peter Bazalgette (Baz), placed responsibility on every funded organisation to make their programme of work more reflective of the communities they serve.
It has been an exciting first month in my new role as Dance Education Officer within the Learning Department at Northern Ballet. I have recently returned from my first trip on tour with the Company at Nottingham Theatre Royal for the production The Great Gatsby. I had a fabulous group of over 55s for a workshop which took place on the stage. The group was such a pleasure to teach!
Northern Ballet’s Ability is taking part in an exciting project with some of Mencap’s Young Ambassadors from the region. As part of the Look Beyond the Label campaign the two groups have been meeting to create a dance piece that will be performed as part of National Mencap Day.  However, the time and location are secret!  We may drop the odd clue though...
During our Summer Course, youngsters will have the opportunity to explore how we can use the magical tale of Peter Pan to inspire our own stories through dance.
It's back to work this week for our dancers who we welcome back from a four-week summer holiday.
