Vampires land at The Alchemist

Northern Ballet has collaborated with The Alchemist to create a limited edition cocktail to mark the return of Northern Ballet’s Dracula to the West Yorkshire Playhouse. The Transylvanian Broker cocktail will be available exclusively at The Alchemist in Trinity Leeds between 1 – 14 September 2014 and will be priced at £6.95.

Created by Head Bartender, Elliot Oxley, the Translyvian Broker is inspired by Northern Ballet’s production and contains Brokers Gin, Briottet Elderflower, a squeeze of fresh grapefruit, gomme and three dashes of The Alchemist’s secret red powder. The red powder slowly turns the cocktail a deep red colour and dry ice is added to the final serve to create an eerie bubbling cocktail.

Elliot said: ‘I chose gin because of its diverse characteristics and its popularity at the moment. I paired grapefruit with the gin due to its distillation with citrus peels and added a spooky dark red powder to make it look like Dracula’s favourite drink’.

Last performed by Northern Ballet in 2009, Dracula is returning exclusively to the West Yorkshire Playhouse from 5 – 13 September 2014. In this adaptation of Bram Stoker’s legendary novel the tormented world of the immortal Count is played out through Northern Ballet’s unique blend of dance and gripping theatre. A creature who should inspire repulsion in every living thing Dracula has instead seduced countless generations with his mesmerising sensuality.

The Translyvanian Broker cocktail is available on request at The Alchemist for customers aged 18+.

Tickets for Dracula at West Yorkshire Playhouse are on sale now at wyp.org.uk or by calling the box office on 0113 213 7700. Age guidance 12+.
