Getting ready for the Open House

Published on

We are about to fling open our doors to the public for our Open House 2012.

Looking in on an Adacemy class

Caretakers Peter and Austin have been working up a sweat moving furniture and setting up rooms ready for the talks and taster sessions.  The company are currently doing a technical run of their performance to make sure the lighting and sound levels are all correct.  The café are busy baking cakes and getting ready to sell lots of cups of coffee.

And here in the Learning team, we have been collecting scraps of material, ribbon, lace and plenty of glitter as we will be in charge of the craft activities for children.

So that we can help children make their beastly mask or Tinkerbell wand tomorrow, we of course had to have a practice beforehand and so on Wednesday afternoon we turned off our computers and had a great time cutting and sticking all sorts of things to paper plates and cut-out templates to make some wonderful examples that we are extremely proud of!  In all honesty, I think we missed our calling in life and should have been Blue Peter presenters!!

As well as the craft activities, we will be telling the stories of some of our favourite productions and making music (and plenty of noise!) during family music sessions.  So if you’ve seen the company perform, had a go at a ballet class yourself, watched the Academy students practice, seen the wardrobe team making costumes and filled up on tea and cake, pop by and see us on the third floor to make your own props and masks.
