Ashley Dixon - photo Justin Slee

In a nutshell describe your job and how you got into it

I’m a dancer with the company so my usual day consists of a ballet class each morning followed by rehearsals for the current repertoire. Dancing was a passion of mine from a young age, but after seeing numerous different performances, Northern Ballet included, encouraged me to pursue dancing as a career.

Where can you be found when you’re not at Northern Ballet?

Usually out with Rachael (Gillespie) either having dinner, going for walks or going to the cinema.

Which is your favourite Northern Ballet production and why?

Ashley Dixon as The Beast. Photo Bill Cooper.

There are so many to choose from but I think it would have to be Beauty & the Beast because it was the first principal role I've had created on me so will always be special to me. I can't leave out the others, though, which include Hamlet, A Midsummer Night's Dream and Peter Pan to name but a few.

I’m a frustrated...

Football supporter.

Who would play you in a film of your life?

That’s a really tough question but having looked on celebrity look-a-like site, they say Tom Welling who plays Clark Kent in Smallville. [True, and we had fun searching - Ed]

What's the best advice you’ve ever been given?

"Always be yourself and work as hard as you can."

What song will always get you dancing?

All the usual classic cheesy songs!

What scares you?

The fear of the unknown.

What would be your Mastermind specialist subject?

It's really sad, but probably the Lord of the Rings.

If you were on a reality TV show which would it be and go on and why?

I really don't like reality TV shows but if I have to pick one probably I'm a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here.

What do you want to do before you die?

Go on a safari and swim in the Great Barrier Reef.

It's your dream dinner party – which six people (dead or alive) would you invite?

Gene Kelly, Nick Barmby (Hull City Manager), Lee Evans, Audrey Tautou, Maggie Smith, J.R.R. Tolkien.

A phrase I use far too much is...

Hard to say, I just talk a lot!

Describe yourself in three words?

Hard working, determined.
