Charlotte Talbot

Guest Ballet Mistress

Charlotte Talbot was born in Sheffield and is a former Northern Ballet Principal artist who originally joined the company in 1992 under the direction of Christopher Gable.

Her repertoire with Northern Ballet included Juliet and Lady Capulet in Massimo Morricone's Romeo & Juliet; Kitri in Don Quixote; Carmen in Didy Veldman’s Carmen; Ann in Gillian Lynne's A Simple Man; Purple Girl in Nacho Duato's Jardi Tancat ; Lucy in Michael Pink’s Dracula; Fleur de Llys in Michael Pink’s Hunchback of Notre Dame; Younger Stepsister in Christopher Gables's Cinderella; Kate in David Nixon's Madame Butterfly; Miss Havisham in Stefano Giannetti's Great Expectations; Belle in Massimo Morricone and Christopher Gable's A Christmas Carol and Sugar Plum Fairy in David Nixon's The Nutcracker.

Charlotte created title roles in many of Northern Ballet's premiere's including; Estella in Stefano Giannetti's Great Expectations; Lucille in Massimo Morricone's Jekyll & Hyde; Blanche du bois in Didy Veldman's A Streetcar Named Desire; Cathy in David Nixon's Wuthering Heights and Belle for the UK Premiere of David Nixon's Beauty & the Beast.

As a freelance guest artist Charlotte was invited by Roland Petit to dance his ballet Le Jeune Homme et la Mort with Tetsuya Kamakawa as a guest artist at K Ballet in Tokyo. She also created principal roles in Petit's Duke Ellington ballet and his Pink Floyd ballet which she performed in Tokyo and a solo created for her which she performed in Paris.

Charlotte retired from the stage in 2004 to start a family and in 2009 she was invited by David Nixon to assist in the re-staging of Wuthering Heights for Northern Ballet’s 40th anniversary program and returned to the Company as Guest Ballet Mistress. In 2011 she worked with the Company on creation of Cleopatra and is thrilled to be working with David & the team for the 2013 production of The Great Gatsby.

Charlotte is a member of the Board of Governors of Central School of Ballet in London.
