Hannah Bateman

Hannah is from Surrey and trained at the Susan Robinson School of Ballet and Central School of Ballet. She joined Northern Ballet in 2002 having previously performed with the Israel Ballet. Hannah performed in Kenneth Tindall’s Production Prize winner Project #1 in Hannover and Northern Ballet’s first visit to the Linbury Studio Theatre at the Royal Opera House.

Juliet (Romeo & Juliet), Mina (Dracula), Marquise (Dangerous Liaisons), Cleopatra (Cleopatra), Isabella (Wuthering Heights), Pas de Deux couple (Perpetuum Mobile), Hans van Manen’s Concertante and Kenneth Tindall’s The Ultimate Form, Luminous Junc·ture and The Architect.

Career highlights

Performing Juliet in Romeo & Juliet at The National Grand Theatre in Beijing and Sadler’s Wells. Dancing the role of Cleopatra, dancing the principal couple in Christopher Hampson's Perpetuum Mobile and working with and performing Hans van Manen’s Concertante.

If you could adapt one work into a ballet what would it be?

The Kiss by Klimt.

How do you like to relax?

Sleep, garden, plan and organise.

If you weren’t a dancer what would you be?

An architect, a garden or interior designer or a hotelier.
