It's been a long time since my last Tales from Touring blog and in fact it's been about four months since the last time I was out and about with the Company in Southampton! In 1981 Robert de Warren created a new version of A Midsummer Night's Dream with production designs by first-time ballet designer Clive Lavagna. His costumes were very modern for the time, with body-suits to allow the audience to admire the dancer's movements, poise and athleticism.
The music used was, of course, Mendelssohn's famous score with additional pieces from his Songs Without Words all arranged by Leonard Salzedo.
