The Learning department is running a Wheelchair Dance project in Leeds, and Dance Education Office Caroline Burn tells us how the first session went.

Cleopatra premiered Saturday 26 February at Leeds Grand Theatre. The atmosphere was electric and the response from the audience phenomenal - here's some of the feedback recieved about the performance on Facebook and Twitter.

Over January and February I have been travelling around Yorkshire delivering Open Days to give young enthusiastic dancers a taste of what it is like to train with Northern Ballet Academy. Along with a member of the Academy admin department and a pianist we have been waking up early on Sunday mornings to set off to show the next generation of dancers how they can benefit from our training in relaxed and fun workshops.

Northern Ballet’s new home as been shortlisted from 112 submissions for the 2011 Civic Building of the Year award. The awards are given by The Society of Chief Architects for Local Authorities (SCALA).

Cleopatra's influence on fashion, style and popular culture seems to be unending, with modern-day icons such as Elizabeth Taylor, Angelina Jolie, Katie Perry and Kim Kardashian taking inspiration from the last Queen of Egypt.  

Yesterday's PM programme on Radio 4 featured a piece about narrative ballet, Northern Ballet's new production of Cleopatra and the Royal Ballet's first new full-length work in 20 years, Christopher Wheeldon's Alice's Adventures in Wonderland.

The report talks about the importance, and difficulty, in creating a full-length narrative ballet, something which Northern Ballet takes great pride in achieving.
