At the end of March Northern Ballet played host to nearly 500 children from all around Leeds as paart of the START project. The project, supported by the Prince’s Foundation for Children and the Arts, enables young people who wouldn’t normally have the opportunity to access the arts, to take part in dance activities and to visit local theatres.

Music is performed live by Northern Ballet Sinfonia and the dancers in this film include Martha Leebolt as Cleopatra, Javier Torres as Caesar, Tobias Batley as Antony, Kenneth Tindall as Wadjet and Hannah Bateman as Octavia.

On 15 October 2010 Zsolt Sándor began filming of a short documentary about the making of Claude-Michel Schönberg and David Nixon's Cleopatra for Northern Ballet.

With interviews from all the key creatives including Claude-Michel Schönberg, David Nixon OBE, Patricia Doyle, Christopher Giles, Martha Leebolt, Kenneth Tindall and Tobias Batley this film takes you through the whole process and offers a unique insight into the creation of a brand new ballet.

Filmed at Hull New Theatre in March 2011, this is a short exceprt from Northern Ballet's new production of Cleopatra currently touring the country.

Music is by Claude-Michel Schönberg (Les Misérables) and performed by Northern Ballet Sinfonia.

In the video you can see Javier Torres as Caesar and the award-winning Martha Leebolt as Cleopatra in a pas de deux from Act 1 of the ballet.
