Last Saturday the rain stayed away and the Learning team had a wonderful day down at the farm running games and activities to let people know about Three Little Pigs.
In partnership with Meanwood Valley Urban Farm in Leeds we ran a family fun day inspired by pigs. Some families came down especially while others just happened upon our activities, but everyone got stuck in and had fun. In the craft area children (and quite a large number of parents) made piggy snouts out of old toilet role tubes and houses of straw, sticks and bricks from old drinks cartons.
Blue Peter eat your heart out!!
And in the games area there was Hook a Pig, Pin the Tail on the Pig, a giant Pigsaw as well as a huge house of straw made with bales of straw from the farm. Over in the café pig shaped biscuits, cup-cakes and crispie-cakes with piggy decorations kept the revellers happy. Shelley was a dab hand with the face paints and I huffed and puffed to blow up a balloon for everyone.
Over the summer we have been running a number of events to get everyone excited about of Three Little Pigs and to tell people about the performances in their local community.
Three Little Pigs will be performed at The Hunslet Club on Sunday 20 October, The Riley Theatre at the Northern School of Contemporary Dance on Saturday 26 October and at the Stanley & Audrey Burton Theatre from 28 October - 2 November.
