We only have a few weeks until Northern Ballet’s Three Little Pigs will be premiering at the Hunslet Club on Sunday 20 October!
As a way of engaging with families around our local community venues Dance Education Officer, Leanne Kirkham, delivered creative storytelling sessions based on the storybook of Three Little Pigs at Hunslet Library & Chapeltown Library.
During the sessions children and their families had the opportunity to bring the characters and story to life using movement, music & storytelling. There were 146 children and adults from the local area who took part. Leanne took lots of resources to play with which helped the children to visualise and interact with different parts of the story. Parents and children all joined in with the sounds and actions and had lots of fun.
One parent said, ‘The session was fun and engaging, it really helped my son to interact with other young children.’
Many of the families who took part booked tickets for Three Little Pigs and are looking forward to seeing the dancers in action. Leanne said, ‘these interactive story telling sessions were a wonderful way of engaging new audiences.’
We would like to say a big thank you to the library staff for helping to organise and support the storytelling sessions.
The Learning team will be at Moor Allerton Library on Saturday 19 October to deliver a multi-sensory story session for children with additional needs based on the storybook of Three Little Pigs. If you would like more information, please contact Shelley Firth on 0113 220 8000.
