Northern Ballet Board member awarded CBE
Northern Ballet Board member Maxine Room has been awarded a CBE for services to education in the Queen’s Birthday Honours.
Maxine is currently Principle of Lewisham College in London but previously held the post of Principal and Chief Executive at Park Lane College, Leeds where she was instrumental in merging Park Lane College, Leeds Thomas Danby College and Leeds College of Technology to form Leeds City College in 2009.
Throughout her career Maxine has been committed to improving further education and is passionate about training, equality and diversity. She is a mentor for the Black Leadership Initiative and is a member of the 157 Group which is dedicated to providing excellence at 27 further education colleges and institutions in urban regions.
Mark Skipper, Chief Executive of Northern Ballet said, ‘I am delighted for Maxine and her CBE is a well-deserved acknowledgement of all her hard work and what she has achieved locally and nationally.’
