60 Seconds with... Victoria Sibson
In a nutshell describe your job and how you got into it
I am a soloist at Northern Ballet. Being a professional dancer involves 6 days a week of taking class, rehearsing repertoire and creating new choreography.
Where can you be found when you’re not at Northern Ballet?
Either at home watching films with my wonderful husband Darren Goldsmith, in the kitchen baking up a storm or out with my friends.
Which is your favourite Northern Ballet production and why?
My favourite... There’re so many. One of my favourites has to be Hamlet - it’s dark, dramatic, has amazing music by Philip Feeney, in-depth characters and wonderful costumes.
If you weren't a Dancer what would you be?
I would love to be a baker / patisserie chef. I’d specialise in novelty cakes – models in sugar paste etc.
Who would play you in a film of your life?
Maybe Debra Messing - not only for the hair colour but she’s a bit crazy too!
What’s the best advice you’ve ever been given?
Just be yourself! Dance as if no-one’s watching.
What song will always get you dancing?
I'm Still Standing by Elton John. It’s such a classic, got to love Elton.
What scares you?
Spiders! Always have done, always will. Big, small, slow, fast - they are freaky! Way too many legs.
What would be your Mastermind specialist subject?
It has to be the TV show Friends. Characters, plot, script - you name it. I’d love it!
If you were on a reality TV show which would it be and why?
Playing it Straight. Just because I'm curious to see how well I could hide it and how far I'd get.
What do you want to do before you die?
Experience zero gravity.
It’s your dream dinner party – which six people (dead or alive) would you invite?
- Barbra Streisand
- Robin Williams
- Liza Minnelli
- Bette Midler
- Gene Kelly
- Brad Pitt
