Ali is from Somerset and studied Fine Art at Newcastle University. Her work has extended over a wide variety of areas including carnival, sculpture, pantomime, opera, ballet and outdoor theatre projects. Her work in carnival has taken her to Trinidad and Brooklyn and she has designed for theatre in Berlin, Moscow and Singapore.
For Northern Ballet, Ali has designed sets for Wuthering Heights, Madame Butterfly, Dracula and the children’s ballets, Three Little Pigs and Elves & the Shoemaker.
Music credits include: Chicago, Chess and Hairspray (Aberystwyth Arts Centre).
Theatre credits include over 15 shows for Red Ladder Theatre Company including: Where’s Vietnam?, Riot, Rebellion and Bloody Insurrection, Sex, Docks & Rock ‘n’ Roll and Big Society. Theatre credits for Pilot Theatre include: Rumblefish, Bloodtide, The Twits, Fungus and the Bogeyman and Lord of the Flies. Other credits include: Bollywood Jane (Leicester Haymarket), Kes and Brassed Off (Lawrence Batley Theatre, Huddersfield), Look Back in Anger (Harrogate Theatre), Camel Station with Trevor Griffiths and The Little Mermaid (Dundee Rep).
Ali design two Rock ‘n’ Roll Panto’s at the City Varieties in Leeds and has just finished designing Aladdin, her second panto at Cast following last year’s Cinderella.
