Le Tour Couture

Published on

This is a 'Tales from Touring' blog with a difference - 'Tales from Le Tour' to be precise - as I went with Isadora Valero Meza and Sebastian Loe on a journey along this weekend's Tour de France route for a photo shoot with the Yorkshire Post, Harvey Nichols and Vidal Sassoon showcasing the best of Yorkshire alongside some stunning French fashion.

The day began at Harewood House where we were joined by a make-up artist from Yves Saint Laurent and a hair stylist from Vidal Sassoon who set to work turning Isadora and Seb into even more gorgeous versions of themselves. Meanwhile, I lusted after the stunning shoes and bags that Isadora would be modelling later on with brands including Christian Louboutin and YSL.

Looking like the Lord and Lady of Harewood House, Seb and Isadora posed for photos around the grounds of the house with Isadora dressed in a stunning bright yellow dress in homage to Le Tour's winning jersey.

We then set off on a cross-country drive and stopped off at Kilnsey Park for hair and make-up retouching. We're not sure that the A-List models have to change in the back of their photographer's VW Campervan but at least we could make a cup of tea!

Isadora and Seb posed at the bottom of the Crag near Kilnsey Park before enlisting the help of some very nosy sheep and posing for me.

The next stages of our journey took us deep into the Yorkshire Dales where these are just some of the scenes we were treated to. Luckily Mother Nature was shining on us and we enjoyed beautiful weather all day long.

Our final stop of the photo shoot was at Ripley Castle where we were greeted by Lady Ripley herself who showed us into some private rooms in the castle itself to change and prepare. Ripley is one of the final locations of the first day of the Grand Départ so it was fitting that we should end our day here beside the huge French flag they have installed for the occasion.

After a very long day, countless outfit changes and a lot of driving, it was back to normality as we headed back to Leeds having unfortunately finished too late to enjoy a famous Ripley ice-cream before we left.

The full feature will be published in the Yorkshire Post Magazine on 5 July - the first day of the Grand Départ - so make sure you grab a copy so you can see Seb and Isadora in all their glory.

And if you're heading out to follow Le Tour this weekend, make sure you bring sun cream! Mother Nature might have blessed us with good weather for the photo shoot but she certainly wasn't generous enough to overlook my forgetfulness in leaving my factor 30 at home - ouch!
