What are the kids up to this summer?

Published on

The summer holidays are nearly here and it’s that time of year when we put down our school books and get ready for fun adventures in the sun.

If you are looking to do something active, fun and creative during the holidays join Northern Ballet for their open Summer Course from Mon 18 – Thur 21 August. We still have places left for any youngsters aged 6 – 13 years to take part!

From fairies to swash-buckling pirates, you we will use the magical tale of Peter Pan to inspire our own unique stories told through dance. You will learn how to create stories from the very first spark of inspiration to bringing your own characters and adventures to life on stage.

Not only will you have the opportunity work with our dance artists, you will also have the chance to work with Matthew Bellwood, a professional storyteller who will help you to craft your own stories. Matthew has grown up Leeds and has told stories to lots of different people across the city. He has told stories in schools, libraries, theatres, museums and even on a boat! He loves to talk to people and hear about their experiences and uses this to inspire his own stories.

Matthew is really excited to be working with Northern Ballet this summer and exploring the ways in which we tell stories through dance and movement, ‘I think Peter Pan is a beautiful story and full of adventure. It has been re-told in lots of different ways since it was written and I’m really looking forward to discovering some new ways of telling it this summer!’

We can’t wait to work with Matthew and see what imaginative stories our participants come up with during the week.

If you would like a place on our Summer Course or require more information please contact Shelley Firth at shelley.firth@northernballet.com or call 0113 220 8000. Alternatively, to book your place please fill in the registration form and return to Shelley Firth, Northern Ballet Quarry Hill, LS2 7PA.

Don’t miss out on the opportunity to explore Neverland and create your own magical adventures!
