Academy

Gerard Power has over ten years experience as a piano accompanist for ballet. For some of that period, he has worked with Northern Ballet in various capacities including as a touring company pianist. He has also worked with groups such as Mark Morris Dance Group and Nederlands Dans Theater.  In addition, he has worked with the Royal Ballet School, Central Ballet, Royal Academy of Dance, York Scholars, Yorkshire Assembly, and SLP College.
One of our CAT (Centre for Advanced Training) students, Molly Hick, went to New York's Martha Graham School of Contemporary Dance for their 2013 Summer School. Here is her story... This summer I was very lucky to attend the Martha Graham School of Contemporary Dance in New York.
We're really looking to our classes starting back next term. Registration forms are coming in thick and fast - so much so that many of our classes are close to capacity and some are already full! Don't worry though, we still have spaces in the Minis' classes, Ballet 1 on Wednesday & Thursday, Ballet 3 on Tuesday & Thursday, Jazz classes plus many more!

Fiona Beale
Fiona was born in Solihull where she started dancing, later she moved to Southampton and attended the Parkewood School of Dance. After this Fiona spent a year at the West Street Studios before completing her training at Central School of Ballet. She graduated from the school in 1996 and joined Northern Ballet.

Northern Ballet is launching an exciting new finishing year course for ballet graduates, designed by David Nixon OBE, Northern Ballet’s Artistic Director and Director of Northern Ballet Academy and Yoko Ichino, Associate Director of Northern Ballet Academy, to help bridge the gap between leaving full-time training and starting life as a professional dancer.
Northern Ballet Academy student, Charlotte Tonkinson, enjoyed a particularly sweet sixteenth birthday this week when she secured a coveted place at the Royal Ballet Upper School in London.

Our Graduate Professional Programme is an exciting one-year classical ballet finishing course designed to make the connection between full-time training and professional performance. Our unique combination of training and professional development techniques aims to give you the skills and knowledge you need to secure your first professional position.
The aim of our senior summer school is to prepare students for company life, to help them to understand the demands of a professional career on their bodies and the discipline required to prevent injury.  Students will learn the fundamentals of the Ichino technique - a pre-requisite for acceptance by Northern Ballet.
