Welcome back to Northern Ballet Academy – round-up of what’s coming and up and the summer months. We hope you are all well rested and had a good summer.  A warm welcome back to the Academy.  We have lots of exciting and challenging things in the pipeline for this year. 
We need your support to allow us to sustain all our dance programmes in our wonderful new building, and to give our students the best possible training in the UK. By becoming a Friend of the Academy of Northern Ballet you can really make a difference. Membership costs just £25 per year and Friends will receive regular Academy newsletters and invitations to attend Academy events including the end of year performance.
Born in North Yorkshire, David is widely regarded as one of the foremost dance accompanists in the UK. In a career spanning over 25 years, he has worked with some of the finest and most respected dancers, teachers and choreographers of his generation. Based in his home County, David is currently engaged as both company and school accompanist with Northern Ballet, additionally for the Northern School of Contemporary Dance, as well as the Royal Ballet School’s Associates programme.
Over January and February I have been travelling around Yorkshire delivering Open Days to give young enthusiastic dancers a taste of what it is like to train with Northern Ballet Academy. Along with a member of the Academy admin department and a pianist we have been waking up early on Sunday mornings to set off to show the next generation of dancers how they can benefit from our training in relaxed and fun workshops.
In its hunt for the dance stars of the future, Northern Ballet is hosting its annual series of open days in York, Sheffield, Huddersfield and Leeds between 30 January and 20 February.

As the official training school of Northern Ballet our Academy offers expert training to all regardless of age or previous experience. Whether you aspire to become a professional dancer or want to dance for fun we have something for you.
It's never too late to learn to dance and our adult classes, from beginners up to advanced level, are a great way to keep fit and improve posture and flexibility in a social atmosphere.
18 months - 8 years old These classes are designed to introduce children to the basics of dance and encourage their natural ability and enjoyment. There is a clear progression route through our children's classes to our classes for young people.
All our dance classes take place in our new building on Quarry Hill in central Leeds. These world-class facilities boast 7 large dance studios, including Europe's largest dance studio, changing facilities and a café.
