In 1983 we produced a new version of Alice in Wonderland with choreographer Rosemary Helliwell, music by Joseph Horovitz and designer Elisabeth Dalton. This photo, from 1984, features dancer Lynn Jezzard in the title role.

Dracula is back at West Yorkshire Playhouse this and next week - we first performed David Nixon's take on the immortal Count back in 2005 with David Paul Kierce as one of the leads. Kierce first got his teeth in to the role when David Nixon originally created the ballet for BalletMet, Ohio. Here's some photos from those 2005 performances...
In 1985 Robert de Warren (choreographer and Artistic Director) created a new ballet based on Shakespeare's Othello. In this pic the composer, Loris Tjeknavoran discusses the music with de Warren and dancers Marcello Angelini (Othello) and Daniela Buson (Desdemona).
In 1992 Dennis Wayne choreographed a new Swan Lake using Tchaikovsky's score. The production was incredibly popular – it sold out much of it's thirty-plus city run, including two weeks in London. This week's photo from the archive features dancers Jayne Regan and William Walker as Odette and Prince Siegfried, taken by Anthony Crickmay.
This week we've found an image from 1988 by Ian Woollams of The Amazing Adventures of Don Quixote. It features two of Northern Ballet's most loved performers - Jeremy Kerridge and Christopher Gable.
In 1984 Northern Ballet Theatre (as we were known then) under the artistic direction of Robert de Warren restaged a classic version of Sleeping Beauty to the choreography of Marius Petipa. This photo features Yoko Shimitzu and Olivier Munez as Princess Aurora and Prince Desire, taken by Linda Rich.

It's 450 years since the birth of William Shakespeare, and his works are far from being dead as a doornail (Henry VI Part II). In fact his words will live on forever and a day (As You Like It). In our repertoire we have three productions based on the plays of Shakespeare - Hamlet, A Midsummer Night's Dream and Romeo & Juliet.
