This is a 'Tales from Touring' blog with a difference - 'Tales from Le Tour' to be precise - as I went with Isadora Valero Meza and Sebastian Loe on a journey along this weekend's Tour de France route for a photo shoot with the Yorkshire Post, Harvey Nichols and Vidal Sassoon showcasing the best of Yorkshire alongside some stunning French fashion.
Last week I returned to Southampton to join the Company on the last stop of our spring tour at the Mayflower Theatre where we would be performing A Midsummer Night's Dream and Three Little Pigs.
Last week the Company was in London, and what a week it was! Our first ever performances in Covent Garden and our first triple bill outside of Leeds in recent years! After being invited to watch the Mixed Programme rehearsals during the previous week I was already highly anticipating our arrival at the Royal Opera House (ROH) and by the time my delightful Cockney cabbie pulled up outside on of London's most famous buildings I was absolutely jittering with excitement.
This time next week the Company will be in residence at the Royal Opera House's Linbury Studio Theatre with a Mixed Programme. It's an important occasion for two reasons as it's our first ever performance at the famous Covent Garden venue and this is also the first time we've performed a triple bill outside of Leeds in recent years. If you haven't seen Northern Ballet in a Mixed Programme before then you've never seen Northern Ballet quite like this!
This week I travelled to Southampton with Tobias Batley, Pippa Moore, Lucia Solari and Javier Torres where we took Southampton by storm in a whirlwind of fairy dust.
This week the Company are on tour with Cinderella at Hull New Theatre and last night I joined them in Hull for my first on tour experience outside of Leeds.
So as we head into April, Cinderella is the flavour of the month with tours to Hull New Theatre and Cardiff New Theatre over the next two weeks.
Hi everyone, it's the Ballet Geek again and in this blog I want to tell you why I love Cleopatra. As you would expect, I did go to see Cleopatra when it first toured during 2011 but this year's revival is no less exciting regardless of whether you've seen it before or not. It's intense, sexy, glamorous, romantic and emotional, all in one go.
