We believe that everyone can dance and we offer classes, courses, workshops and activities that ensure you can find something that suits your needs.
All of our workshops and projects are inclusive of participants with disabilities but we also run activities specifically tailored to those with disabilities, offering the space and support to explore dance in their own way.
We have paved the way in creating opportunities for visually impaired audiences to engage with our productions. Our unique Access Day enables visually impaired patrons to enjoy a full range of activities that enhance the enjoyment and understanding of ballet. The day consists of a touch tour on stage to feel the set, props and costumes, an insight session introducing movements from the production assisted by Company dancers, and an audio described performance. The performance, audio described by VocalEyes, enables visually impaired patrons to enjoy the story of the ballet and the emotion and quality of the movement accompanied by music played live by the Northern Ballet Sinfonia. Our resources enhance your enjoyment of seeing a ballet by offering an insight into our productions and preparing you for the experience of going to the theatre. They can be used before or after seeing a production. For teachers they also provide practical ideas for teaching dance in the classroom.
Our cross-curricular projects enable pupils to physically explore concepts or ideas they might otherwise find difficult to grasp in a classroom setting through fun and creative workshops.
