Preparations are well underway for our Open House 2014 on Saturday 15 February and we can’t wait to welcome you to explore our home and discover more about life behind-the-scenes at Northern Ballet and Phoenix Dance Theatre.
During the day our resident Physiotherapists are on hand to offer completely free mini-Physiotherapy consultations. Chartered Physiotherapist Liz Atha tells us what to expect.
Northern Ballet responds to the Government Spending Review
The outcome of the Government Spending Review for the arts was far better than anticipated. Although there will be cuts to the Department for Culture, Media & Sport budgets, the budget to the Arts Council was protected.
Matthew Bourne's New Adventures and Re:Bourne are staging an evening of dance at Sadler's Well to celebrate the life of Jonathan Ollivier who was tragically taken from us earlier this year.
The programme features a number of Companies with whom Jonathan trained or performed including Northern Ballet, Matthew Bourne, The Rambert School and The McOnie Company. Kevin and Karen Clifton from Strictly Come Dancing will perform in memory of their, and our, friend.
This Sunday the Academy of Northern Ballet held it's first ever Dance-A-Thon to raise money to support students in need of assistance across all of our Accademy programmes and to enable us to buy new equipment for all Academy students to use.
Our staff and students along with their families and friends took part in a sponsored four hour continuous dance during the day which also included face painting, games and stalls including a tasty cake stand.
We'd like to thank everyone that took part in what was a fantastic and fun day!
The Academy’s first ever Dance-A-Thon is taking place this coming Sunday 8th November from 12-4pm!
Students of all ages and abilities across the Academy’s four training programmes, along with some of their families and friends, will be taking part in a mass dance with the challenge of dancing for a minimum of 30minutes up to a maximum of 4 hours.
We are delighted that in less than two weeks time we will be welcoming the dancers and crew from Royal New Zealand Ballet to our home. Travelling more than 11,500 miles from their base in Wellington, New Zealand, this major international ballet company will be performing in Leeds for the very first time and with no less than three European Premières!
