On 5, 6 and 7 December we asked you to support our Sponsor a Dancer campaign in the Big Give Christmas Challenge – and you didn’t disappoint!
We kicked off the Big Give by welcoming dance students from Headingley Ballet School who presented a £125 cheque towards the campaign following a second-hand uniform sale run by the students to raise money. By the end of the Big Give we had achieved £59,053.80 in donations, beating last year’s total by more than £2,000!
Not only are our dancers dedicated performers but many of our company have hidden talents and Olivia Holland is one of them. Last week I discovered that not only is she a talented ballet artist but also a talented photographer and painter. So I caught up with Olivia to get the full scoop.
Behind-the-scenes at the Harvey Nichols fashion shoot
Last week two of the our dancers, Maria Beseghi and Olivia Holland, switched occupation for a day to be models in a luxury fashion photo-shoot with Harvey Nichols and Yorkshire Post. We took lots of snaps to give you a behind-the-scenes look at just what the dancers got up to.

In one magical night the three ghosts and Old Jacob Marley take miserable Ebenezer Scrooge on a spiritual journey but it is not just our production that has ghostly apparitions, some of our venues have reported strange encounters.
In preparation for the Cello & Piano concert on 18 October with Northern Ballet's Principal Cellist Sasha Volpov and Company Pianist Grant Green, we interviewed Sasha Volpov to see how he was feeling about performing.
