This Sunday the Academy of Northern Ballet held it's first ever Dance-A-Thon to raise money to support students in need of assistance across all of our Accademy programmes and to enable us to buy new equipment for all Academy students to use.
Our staff and students along with their families and friends took part in a sponsored four hour continuous dance during the day which also included face painting, games and stalls including a tasty cake stand.
We'd like to thank everyone that took part in what was a fantastic and fun day!
The Academy’s first ever Dance-A-Thon is taking place this coming Sunday 8th November from 12-4pm!
Students of all ages and abilities across the Academy’s four training programmes, along with some of their families and friends, will be taking part in a mass dance with the challenge of dancing for a minimum of 30minutes up to a maximum of 4 hours.
We are delighted that in less than two weeks time we will be welcoming the dancers and crew from Royal New Zealand Ballet to our home. Travelling more than 11,500 miles from their base in Wellington, New Zealand, this major international ballet company will be performing in Leeds for the very first time and with no less than three European Premières!
Last Wednesday 9 September, Northern Ballet were privileged to enjoy a visit from our royal patron HRH the Earl of Wessex KG GCVO.
His Royal Highness enjoyed a dinner with Northern Ballet Artistic Director David Nixon OBE, alongside 1984 choreographer Jonathan Watkins and senior personnel and dancers from across the Company. The group shared a Loyal Toast with His Royal Highness to mark Her Majesty the Queen becoming the longest serving British Monarch.
Here in the Learning office, we have been busy tidying up after last week’s jam-packed Summer Course. 43 children aged between seven and eleven from across Yorkshire took part and explored different ideas on the theme of a ‘Summer Picnic’.
