Hot on the heels of the official opening of our new home and our Open Day we are delighted to announce more good news. Premier dancer, Martha Leebolt, has been awarded the Outstanding Female Performance (Classical) award at today's Critics' Circle National Dance Awards for her performance as the Marquise De Merteuil in Dangerous Liaisons, choreographed by Northern Ballet’s Artistic Director David Nixon OBE.
More than 2250 people took the opportunity to look around our new home, watch a performance or class demonstration, try out a dance class, view our costume and photography exhibition and rub shoulders with our fabulous dancers.
Our time in Beijing seems to have flown by and we are at the final performance day already. Class wasn’t until 1.15 so still plenty of time for even more shopping. For some it is the thrill of the bargaining as much as what they are actually buying.
Northern Ballet returns to China this January with two of the Company’s best-loved productions: Madame Butterfly and Romeo & Juliet . The Company will perform at the National Centre for the Performing Arts in Beijing from 1 to 5 January 2011.
We're preparing for the official opening of our new home in January 2011. As part of the celebrations we are holding an open day which is a chance for you to come and look around our new building and see behind-the-scenes of how we work.
