Rachael Gillespie, Michaela Griffin, Josh Barwick and Matthew Broadbent made a flying visit to The Rock shopping centre in Bury, near Manchester, to take part in the unveiling of their Christmas lights before travelling to Manchester to perform in The Nutcracker at the Palace Theatre.
Since the dancers have been on tour for the past month yesterday was their first time in our new home. All day long they were popping through offices, trying out the studios and telling us what they thought.
Here's just a few of their thoughts on the new building...
Northern Ballet gave the inaugural performance at Aylesbury’s new Waterside Theatre on 12 October, performing Swan Lake to a full and star-studded auditorium.
The glitterati were out in force to greet a cheering crowd outside. The many household names included Tony Christie who sang his hit “Is this the way to Amarillo”, Ruby Wax, David Suchet, Simon Callow, Richard O’Brien, Suzanne Shaw, Warwick Davis, and Cilla Black, who officially opened the theatre.
The first week has been very exciting, learning our way around the building and making use of the terrific facilities it has to offer. By the time the Northern Ballet dancers return from their national tour on 18 October we will have settled in nicely and be ready to welcome them with open arms to their new home.
