Welcome back to Northern Ballet Academy – round-up of what’s coming and up and the summer months. We hope you are all well rested and had a good summer. A warm welcome back to the Academy. We have lots of exciting and challenging things in the pipeline for this year.
We need your support to allow us to sustain all our dance programmes in our wonderful new building, and to give our students the best possible training in the UK. By becoming a Friend of the Academy of Northern Ballet you can really make a difference. Membership costs just £25 per year and Friends will receive regular Academy newsletters and invitations to attend Academy events including the end of year performance. Born in North Yorkshire, David is widely regarded as one of the foremost dance accompanists in the UK. In a career spanning over 25 years, he has worked with some of the finest and most respected dancers, teachers and choreographers of his generation. Based in his home County, David is currently engaged as both company and school accompanist with Northern Ballet, additionally for the Northern School of Contemporary Dance, as well as the Royal Ballet School’s Associates programme.

In its hunt for the dance stars of the future, Northern Ballet is hosting its annual series of open days in York, Sheffield, Huddersfield and Leeds between 30 January and 20 February. The open days offer young dance enthusiasts, between the ages of 10 and 15, the chance to meet Northern Ballet Academy staff, find out more about our training programmes and technique and take part in a ballet or creative dance class.

As the official training school of Northern Ballet our Academy offers expert training to all regardless of age or previous experience. Whether you aspire to become a professional dancer or want to dance for fun we have something for you.
It’s never too late to learn to dance! Our adult classes are accompanied by live music and are offered from beginner to advanced level. These classes are a great way to socialise, keep fit and improve posture and flexibility.
These fun-filled classes accompanied by live music* are the perfect introduction to the basics of dance. Children are encouraged to express themselves through dance and music and build on their natural ability. There is a clear progression route through our children’s classes to our classes for young people. *Excludes Mini Movers and Moving Minis
Under the guidance of Northern Ballet’s Artistic Director and Academy Director, David Nixon OBE, our classes are led by our highly experienced teaching faculty in the same state-of-the-art building in which Northern Ballet’s Company Dancers train.
