Northern Ballet will feature in children’s entertainment programme Something Special on the BBC CBeebies channel on Thursday 16 January. Members of Northern Ballet’s Learning team have worked with the programme in an episode that focuses on dance.

My name is Rose Chadwick and I have recently started my post as Dance Education Officer as maternity cover for Sophie Alder. I've been fortunate enough to have worked with Northern Ballet's Learning team as a freelance dance artist for a number of years and I’m really excited about working with the team and the Company full-time.
Last Saturday the rain stayed away and the Learning team had a wonderful day down at the farm running games and activities to let people know about Three Little Pigs.

During rehearsals dancers may improvise dialogue for their character to better understand their intentions. The audience isn't expected to get everything the dancer has improvised but as the ballet progresses the intentions build allowing a much better understanding.
David Nixon first created this version of A Midsummer Night's Dream at Northern Ballet in 2003, a witty and imaginative production in which the original story is adapted and set in a ballet company in the 1940s. This resource pack is designed to give you more information about the production and an insight into how it was created.
