Kevin Poeung

Kevin is from Montpelier in France. He joined Northern Ballet in 2012 having trained at English National Ballet School.

Where did you do your dance training?

National School of Dance, Marseille and English National Ballet School.

What made you want to be a dancer?

My mother transferred her passion to me. She always wanted to become a ballerina but she never could. Her and my  father put me in a ballet class and since then I have never stopped.

What would be your dream role to dance and why?

I don’t really have a dream role anymore since I have danced Don Quixote for English National Ballet School summer shows, I would like any role that would be an opportunity for me to really express myself as an artist.

If you could adapt one work into a ballet what would it be?

If I could adapt one work into a ballet in would be my parents life just because they have been through so many things but no matter what the difficulties they’ve carried on living.

Who are your artistic influences or heroes?

Mariah Carey, Rolando Sazabia and my family.

Describe your perfect Sunday morning.

Wake up and have breakfast with the person I love and then stay in bed for the whole morning!

What was the first album you bought and what was the last album you bought?

The Emancipation of Mimi, Mariah Carey.

Memoirs of an Imperfect Angle, Mariah Carey.

What would be your luxury item on a desert island?

My glasses!

What are you favourite places in Yorkshire?

I haven’t had much chance to explore Yorkshire yet so I will let you know!
