Martha Leebolt

Martha is from California and trained at the Black Mountain Dance Center and at BalletMet Columbus. She joined Northern Ballet in 2001. Martha won the 2010 National Dance Award for Outstanding Female Performance (Classical) for her performance as the Marquise De Merteuil in Dangerous Liaisons.

In 2012 Martha guested at the 23rd International Ballet Festival hosted by The National Ballet of Cuba in Havana.

Born in Anahiem, California, raised in San Diego, California.

Black Mountain Dance CentreBallet Met, Columbus.

2001

What made you want to be a dancer?

Watching the older girls at ballet school.

What would be your dream role to dance and why?

I am fortunate enough to have already danced my dream role, Cleopatra but I’d love the opportunity to dance, ‘In the Middle Somewhat Elevated’ by William Forsythe.

If you could adapt one work into a ballet what would it be?

Pride & Prejudice

Who are your artistic influences or heroes?

Kerri Strug. When she landed her second vault with a damaged ankle! Amazing courage and bravery.

Describe your perfect Sunday morning...

Coffee and watching Fraiser.

What was the first album you bought and what was the last album you bought?

The first was Backstreet Boys. The last was One Republic .

What would be your luxury item on a desert island?

Coffee.

What are you favourite places in Yorkshire?

Harweood House and Aagrahs.
