On the 14 of March, students from the Centre for Advanced Training programme levels 3-6 watched Northern Ballet’s 45th anniversary Sapphire Gala at Leeds Grand Theatre. The dress code was black tie so, as expected, we wore our finest dresses and suits for the occasion. Once we had found our seats and taken countless selfies, the performance was ready to start.
1. Now considered a classic, Emily Brontë had to pay the substantial sum of 50 pounds to have Wuthering Heights published following constant rejection from publishers. The book didn’t receive any acclaim in her lifetime and she died believing it to be a failure.
Christopher Gable CBE was born 13 March 1940 and in his career danced with the Sadler's Wells Opera Ballet, Covent Garden Opera Ballet, was a Principal Dancer at The Royal Ballet where he created many roles and in 1982 he founded the Central School of Ballet.
