This week in Northern Ballet (12 May 2014)
This week is a quiet one in the studios as the Company are casting off their form-fitting lycras in favour of fairy wings and travelling out to Norwich with A Midsummer Night's Dream. This is the home stretch of our spring tour and will see Titania and co also perform in Milton Keynes and Southampton before returning to Leeds for our final performances of the season.
This time next week the Company will be in residence at the Royal Opera House's Linbury Studio Theatre with a Mixed Programme. It's an important occasion for two reasons as it's our first ever performance at the famous Covent Garden venue and this is also the first time we've performed a triple bill outside of Leeds in recent years.
If you haven't seen Northern Ballet in a Mixed Programme before then you've never seen Northern Ballet quite like this!
This week is our final full week in the studios before the Company heads to London to perform the Mixed Programme at the Linbury Studio Theatre. The first two performances are virtually sold out but there's still tickets available for the matinee and evening performances on Saturday 10 May so book now to avoid disappointment.
Last week at Northern Ballet 48 children took part in our open Easter Course! The children, all aged between 6 and 13 had a great time looking at extracts from Northern Ballet’s current productions; Three Little Pigs and Cinderella.
After the success of our first live tweet session with Dancer Hannah Bateman, our second live tweet chat is set to take place on the 2 May with our Premier Dancer Tobias Batley. The live tweet session will take place between 2.45 - 3.15pm and you can tweet us your questions using the hashtag #AskToby.
After the long Easter weekend we are back in the studio getting ready for the Mixed Programme at Linbury Studio Theatre at Royal Opera House. Kenneth Tindall's Luminous Juncture is set to get it's London premiere, Hans van Manen's Concertante makes a welcome return to the repertoire after a wonderful response last year and the dance legend Lar Lubovitch is in the studios rehearsing Concerto Six Twenty-Two.
