Dangerous Liaisons

“Think intrigue, think seduction, think of turbulent emotions straining at the tight lacing of 18th century bodices and lustful thoughts seething under the calmly elegant wigs of aristocratic men”

The Herald, Scotland

David Nixon's Dangerous Liaisons ballet tells a story of sexual power, depravity, cruelty and deceit in 18th century France. Letters fly between the mansions of two bored aristocrats as they plot a game of heartbreak and ruin. Innocence is preyed upon, relationships shattered and love lost. Vivaldi's Four Seasons, played live by the Northern Ballet Sinfonia, wraps itself around the seductive dance in this sexually-charged production.

From the original scandalous novel to the acclaimed film starring John Malcovich and Michelle Pfeiffer, the story of Dangerous Liaisons has been thrilling audiences for over 200 years. Renowned for bringing famous stories to life with their stunning blend of dance and drama Northern Ballet’s bodice-ripping ballet is bound to leave you breathless regardless of whether you are a dance lover or dance virgin.
