A step closer events
Northern Ballet offers a range of opportunities for you to take a step closer to the Company and find out more about our productions during your visit to the theatre.
Talks and demonstrations give an insight into life of a touring ballet company, offers the chance to see the dancers in training and reveal some of the secrets behind creating a production. And for those with energy or a secret desire to dance, our movement workshops offer you the chance to have a go, learn some new steps and get creative, whatever your ability.

Join the Northern Ballet technical team for this 30-minute talk and demonstration offering a behind-the-scenes look at the technical aspects of a ballet, including set, sound and lighting. Free to attend, need to book, just stay after the show.

Hear the production come alive as the action on stage is described live through your headset be Northern Ballet’s audio describer, preceded by a touch tour and insight specifically designed for those with visual.

Go onto the stage and feel the set and be guided by Northern Ballet dancers as you learn about ballet steps and specific movements from the production.

Learn some steps from one of Northern Ballet's productions and create your own sequence inspired by the story. Whatever your ability join in and have a go.
- Keep Dancing for the Over 55s

Join a gentle movement workshop on stage and learn steps from the production, accompanied by live music. Followed by a talk about Northern Ballet and a chance to watch the dancers' daily class. Open to anyone over 55 with enthusiasm – no previous experience required!
