Choreographic Showcase

Northern Ballet and Phoenix Dance Theatre dancers are turning their hands to choreography for their first ever showcase of work at their home on Quarry Hill. The Choreographic Showcase will be performed on 17 and 18 June at 7.30pm in the Stanley & Audrey Burton Theatre.
The eleven short pieces, up to ten minutes each, are currently being created and will range in style and content from narrative to abstract, ballet to contemporary with at least one that requires kneepads! Works will feature dancers from Northern Ballet or Phoenix or even both.
This is the first chance both companies have had to work collaboratively since they took up home in their new headquarters.
Dancers from who are creating new work include Northern Ballet's Hannah Batemen, Dreda Blow, Graham Kotowich, Sebastian Loe, Victoria Sibson, Kenneth Tindall & ex-principal dancer Keiko Amemori and Phoenix Dance Theatre's Phill Sanger, Azzurra Ardovini and Ryu Suzuli.
Company Ballet Master, Daniel De Andrade whose work Glass Cannon was performed by Northern Ballet as part of the Mixed Bill at Leeds Grand Theatre in February 2010 will also develop a new work as will Company Deputy Stage Manager Chun-Yen Chia, who danced for many years with English National Ballet.
Tickets for both evenings are available to buy now through our box office and are likely to go quickly so book now.
