Quarry Hill Festival

The clouds are gathering, the temperature’s dropping and rain is on the way – that’s right, it’s festival time! But before you pack up your tent and pull on your wellies, you should check out what’s happening right here at Northern Ballet’s new home on Quarry Hill on 2 July: for good, clean, mostly dry and not to mention FREE fun for all your family and friends, you won’t beat the Quarry Hill Festival.

Quarry Hill Festival

Centrally located in the area, Northern Ballet will be a veritable hub of activity on the day. Going to ballet classes is, as we all know, the new going to see Black Swan, and we will be running two family dance workshops on the theme of our new upcoming ballet, Beauty & the Beast, if you fancy joining the craze, from 11.30-12.30 and 1.30-2.30. Or why not get a real insight into a dancer’s life, reassuringly devoid of waterfowl-related delusions, and take a tour around our shiny new headquarters, beginning at 10am, 12 noon, 2pm and 4pm?

As newcomers to Quarry Hill, everyone at Northern Ballet is really excited about the Festival, which will showcase the diversity of artistic activity happening in this cultural quarter of Leeds. Quite apart from the fact that you’ll be able to peek behind the scenes at what our new neighbours at places like the West Yorkshire Playhouse and the BBC are up to, it’ll also be a great opportunity to get involved with these organizations and try out the creative activities on offer. And with the money you save on entry (did I mention that it’s free?), there will be pretty things to buy– yes, shopping too, I know, it’s all too much – at the ArtsMix market!

You can book places on all our Quarry Hill Festival workshops and tours here (and all our lovely neighbours’ too), or by calling 0113 213 7700. Sure, you could just turn up – limited tickets will be available on the day - but we’d hate for you to be disappointed, so get clicking!

Oh look – the sun’s come out - coffee on our terrace it is, then! See you in July!
