Tutus, tambourines and action!
Our new Academy Pastoral Assistant, Emma Rodriguez-Saona, has her first experience of Academy end of year performances:
What a way to start my time at Northern Ballet. With the Academy’s calendar full to the brim, I was instantly immersed.
I’ve found my first few weeks to be a hubbub of activity, hard work and enjoyment (my first challenge was learning lots of names!). Highlights that just cannot go unmentioned include the fantastic end of year Academy shows.
The first performance showcased the talents of the Yorkshire Young Dancers and took place at The Northern School of Contemporary Dance. This fabulous evening was a compilation of outstanding talent from both the ballet and contemporary fields, and of course the student’s successes did not end there! They partook in two equally successful shows the following week here at Northern Ballet that included ballet, contemporary and jazz performances from both the professional training students and those from open classes. Those shows were kindly supported by the Parent Teacher Association who organised a raffle which included prizes such as performance tickets, pointe shoes and dance accessories. There were also stalls of clothes, cards and jewellery and an exceptionally popular bake sale that raised money in support of the Academy.
All students and everyone involved in the performances should be commended for their hard work and commitment. We look forward to next year!
