Top 10 Midsummer Technical Tour Facts

Published on Wednesday 25 September, 2013

As I continue the tour with the Company, I cornered Andy Waddington, Technical Director, for top facts about the technical side of the tour for A Midsummer Night's Dream.

The lighting rig has 17 miles of cable
5 tonnes of scenery is flown above stage
36 moving lights and 100 theatre lamps are used to light the show
The trailers will travel a combined mileage of 4000 miles over the venues it is performing
2 AA bateries are used
300kg of dry ice every week
3.2 miles of PVC tape is used. Black is the most popular
The tour team consists of four stage crew, three lighting, four stage management, four wardrobe and a wigs manager
A Midsummer Night's Dream is 10 years old
The white Harlequin floor is the same one used on Cleopatra, which will tour again next year!

and as a bonus fact - The show lasts 2 hours 40 including 2 intervals of 20 minutes each. That means in a performance week with a full rehearsal on Tuesday afternoon the stage will be in performance mode for 18 hours in the week!
