Reporting to the Director of Academy and planning closely with the Associate Director, the Director of Academy Operations will maximise fundraising and recruitment efforts to increase income for the Academy.

The Director of Academy Operations will be responsible for the effective financial management of the Academy, so significant experience of managing budgets is essential, as is experience of leading and managing teams and developing and delivering strategies.

You will also take the lead in advocating for the Academy at a local, national and international level so a detailed understanding of the art form and the ability to communicate this with passion and clarity is essential.

We are looking for somebody with five years professional experience in the arts and culture sector, a thorough knowledge of ballet training and exceptional leadership and communication skills.

Salary within the region of £34,000 dependent upon experience

Hours 40 hours full time to include alternate Saturdays.

We are looking for a Deputy Wardrobe Manager, to assist in the efficient operation of the Northern Ballet Wardrobe Department on tour and at base in Leeds, to the highest possible standards.

You will assist with the maintenance of costumes, shoes and accessories, both on and off tour, and assist the Wardrobe Manager on all change-rounds.

You will have exceptional interpersonal skills and have two years’ touring experience at a similar level.

Salary £22,000

Tell Tale Steps is Northern Ballet’s inaugural Choreographic Laboratory, in partnership with Scottish Ballet and The Royal Ballet. It offers emerging choreographers studio time in a professional environment, working with Northern Ballet’s Company dancers to experiment with creative processes, play with movement ideas and begin to see a dance story from the perspective of the audience.

Working within the prescribed boundaries of narrative form and classical dance, you will be mentored by Northern Ballet’s Artistic Director and other guest artists will offer guidance throughout the process.

With a genuine interest in the narrative form and classical dance, you will be open-minded, collaborative and able to articulate your dance ideas.

The Choreographic Lab will take place at Northern Ballet from Monday 25 May until Saturday 20 June 2015.

The successful candidate will receive a £1,200 fee plus all reasonable expenses, accommodation and travel.

Northern Ballet tour the UK and overseas extensively each year. Our repertoire is a mix of both classical and neo-classical works as well as imaginative narrative full-length ballets.

We are looking for male and female dancers.

You must have strong classical technique, strong pointe work, good partnering skills and strength and should be open-minded, creative and imaginative.

Closed auditions will be held by invitation only on Sun 8 Feb 2015 in Leeds.

Please submit a full CV (which must include height, weight, date of birth and nationality), current full length classical dance photos and a video link (or DVD) of centre work on pointe in leotard/tights showing jumps, adage, pirouette and long travelling combinations.

Work experience could inspire you to pursue a career in the arts.   At Northern Ballet we aspire to offer this opportunity to more young people across Leeds and Yorkshire.

Work experience is for young people of school age (usually in Years 9, 10 and 11) and can take place at any time in the academic year.

It provides you with an opportunity to spend a week at Northern Ballet gaining a broad experience of working in an arts organisation.

The focus of the experience is on the non-performance areas of the company and during the week you will spend time in different departments including; Technical, Communications, Development, Wardrobe, Learning and the Academy.

We are looking for young people who are enthusiastic about the arts and want to learn more about working behind the scenes at a cultural organisation.
