Merry Christmas from Northern Ballet Academy
So much seems to have happened in 4 months - starting with the move to the new building.
The students have settled in really well and definitely seem to be feeling at home now.
The most amazing thing about the new building has been seeing all the new faces here. We have started a whole new range of open classes which has meant that every evening the building is buzzing with people coming in and out of different classes.
Thursday mornings will never be the same again now we have started Mini Movers (our parents/ carers and tots class). Each Thursday from 10.00am studio 3 is filled with the noise of excited toddlers keen to get moving - I love watching this class - it keeps me smiling for the rest of the day.
The highlight of this term for me has been the Professional Division Intensive weekend in October. Our Professional Division students focus on Classical Ballet but we know how important well-rounded training is so we aim to give the students an insight into a totally different style every so often. This October the students took part in ‘Strictly Come Hairspray’ a fun-filled weekend of Ballroom dancing and musical theatre. It really was a fantastic weekend and was rounded off with our first ever performance in the Studio Theatre.
The Nutcracker has been a big part of the Academy this term with over 50 Academy students taking part in the company production. Even when the snow was coming down thick and fast the party children and mice were busy travelling across Yorkshire to get to the theatre. I would like to say a big thank you to the parents for managing to get everyone there in one piece.
All the academy students are now off for a well deserved rest. I will keep you updated on all our adventures next term but for now have a very Merry Christmas!
