Our Dancing Queen
Hot on the heels of the official opening of our new home and our Open Day we are delighted to announce more good news. Premier dancer, Martha Leebolt, has been awarded the Outstanding Female Performance (Classical) award at today's Critics' Circle National Dance Awards for her performance as the Marquise De Merteuil in Dangerous Liaisons, choreographed by Northern Ballet’s Artistic Director David Nixon OBE. She was nominated alongside Crystal Costa (English National Ballet) and Akane Takada (Royal Ballet).
The awards took place this afternoon at Sadler's Wells in London. On accepting her award Martha said: “This award is not only a personal achievement for me but also one for Northern Ballet. We are a unique and close-knit group that has a built in support for one another. Our achievements are made as a team.”
Needless to say everyone at Northern Ballet would like to congratulate Martha on this fantastic achievement and to thank all members of the Critics' Circle for recognising Martha's huge talent and achievements. We are very proud of you Martha.
