Our Dancing Queen

Premier dancer, Martha Leebolt, has been awarded the Outstanding Female Performance (Classical) award at today's Critics' Circle National Dance Awards for her performance as the Marquise De Merteuil in Dangerous Liaisons, choreographed by Northern Ballet’s Artistic Director David Nixon OBE. She was nominated alongside Crystal Costa (English National Ballet) and Akane Takada (Royal Ballet).

The awards took place this afternoon at Sadler's Wells in London. On accepting her award Martha said: “This award is not only a personal achievement for me but also one for Northern Ballet. We are a unique and close-knit group that has a built in support for one another. Our achievements are made as a team.”

We are very proud of you Martha.

Martha is creating the role of Cleopatra, the Queen of Egypt, in Northern Ballet's new production.
