Paralympic Gold Medalist Hannah Cockroft supports Northern Ballet
Dare to Dream
Yorkshire born double Paralympic Gold Medallist, Hannah Cockroft, visited Northern Ballet’s headquarters in Leeds to show her support for the Company’s commitment to nurturing young dance talent and to offer inspiration to aspiring young dancers.
Northern Ballet is one of few ballet companies that annually employs young apprentices and supports them in achieving long and fruitful careers as professional dancers.
Hannah is supporting Northern Ballet by encouraging people to give generously to the Company’s ‘BIG GIVE Christmas campaign’, from 6 to 8 December. The Big Give will double any online donations made in support of ‘Sponsor a Dancer’, the campaign to aid the continued development of Dancers and commitment to developing talent in this difficult economic climate.
Northern Ballet’s Artistic Director David Nixon OBE said: ‘Hannah is a phenomenal example of how sheer determination and commitment can achieve great things. We are incredibly proud she is from our home county. The passion and drive it takes to become a professional athlete draws parallels with those qualities needed to achieve a career as a professional dancer. Not only do we have young apprentice’s in our company we have more than 450 students from across the region in our Academy. In this year of Olympic pride Hannah’s accomplishments offer great inspiration to our young dancers.’
Northern Ballet will be hosting ‘Coffee and Class’ from 10am – 12noon on 6, 7 and 8 December when members of the public can enjoy watching the Company dancers take their daily ballet class and afterwards sign up to make an online donation which will be doubled by The Big Give.
