Sponsor a dancer

Starting 20 October you will be able to help us by Sponsoring A Dancer online. Read on for further information about the campaign...
Fundraising just got personal - Sponsor a Dancer is our positive and proactive response to a cut in our funding and the possibility that we will lose dancers.
What makes us unique? The repertoire, the people, it's like a family. The way everyone works together is really special. It's the repertoire that puts us in a different field. We try to make ballet for everyone; we try to make dance for now, for tomorrow, for everyone that hasn’t seen it we try to make it accessible in every way that we can.
Kenneth Tindall, Premier Dancer
Northern Ballet is an inventive, challenging and inspiring company. We are a British success story. We nurture new talent, create new stories, engage and delight our audiences and bring ballet to more and more people.
But we need all of our dancers to be able to do it.
Just at a time when we felt we were on the crest of a wave we were informed of a cut in our funding. Having achieved so much on limited resources, it came as a huge disappointment. Without increased support we will have to face the reality that we will have to significantly reduce the number of dancers in the Company.
We are doing everything we can to help ourselves. We have already raised £500,000 to secure the creation of three new full-length ballets in the next three years as we all passionately believe that new work is so vitally important.
We are encouraged by recent donations from the Monument Trust and Garfield Weston Foundation who have together contributed £200,000, which will support 4 dancers for each of the next two years.
They have been joined by James Hare who is supporting one of the Company’s young apprentice dancers.
James Hare have a long association with Northern Ballet through the supply of silks and their sponsorship programme. We have particularly enjoyed watching young talent coming through the Company and feel privileged to be sponsoring one of the new apprentice dancers.
Tim Hare, Managing Director
