A season of exciting performances is underway at Leeds' newest venue, the Stanley & Audrey Burton Theatre, at Northern Ballet and Phoenix Dance Theatre's home on Quarry Hill.
The diverse programme, which runs up until December, includes a wide range of music, dance and theatre. From Manasamitra's spring festival of Indian classical music, to the Mezze festival of intimate theatre pieces, and performances by Northern Ballet, Phoenix Dance Theatre and ensemble concerts from Northern Ballet Sinfonia, there is something to suit all interests.
The Stanley & Audrey Burton Theatre seats up to 230 people and is right in the heart of what is becoming the city's cultural quarter. It offers a unique environment to see performances from up-and-coming and established artists and provides a space for experimental, smaller-scale work from larger companies and groups.
The theatre also offers the opportunity to get closer to the work of both Northern Ballet and Phoenix Dance Theatre in more intimate surroundings than the large venues to which both companies usually tour.
