25 years in Woking

25 years ago in June 1992, the New Victoria Theatre in Woking first opened its doors.

On stage that night were Northern Ballet - then known as NBT - with a performance of a new Swan Lake, choreographed by Dennis Wayne and set to Tchaikovsky's iconic score.

Since then, the Company have visited the theatre every year - sometimes twice a year – performing 22 different ballets including The NutcrackerMadame Butterfly, The Great GatsbyA Midsummer Night’s Dream and Cleopatra.

This month we return to the theatre for the 29th time with our newest ballet The Little Mermaid by David Nixon OBE.

The Little Mermaid is one of four fairytale ballets Northern Ballet have brought to Woking over the years alongside Cinderella (1998), A Sleeping Beauty Tale (2007) and Beauty & the Beast (2012). Through the years we have perfromed to over 160,000 people at the theatre. Take a look back at our history of performances in Woking.
