Learn more about Katherine
Where were you born and raised?
I was born in France but moved to the US before my first birthday and grew up in Portland, Oregon.
Where did you do your dance training?
I started ballet at the age of 5, and spent nearly all of my training years at The School of Oregon Ballet Theatre, with one year of training at the Paris Opera Ballet School.
When did you join Northern Ballet?
Spring 2013, this is my first season with Northern Ballet.
Which dance companies have you worked for previously?
For the past two years I've danced as a company member with the Joffrey Ballet, and the year prior to that I was an apprentice with Oregon Ballet Theatre.
Balanchine's La Source, The Mistress in Con Amore, Clara in The Nutcracker and Cupid in Don Quixote.
A career highlight has been the opportunity to go on tour dancing- it's always exciting to dance in a new surrounding for a new audience.
One which has captured me recently is Desdemona in Lar Lubovitch's Othello. When I first saw the ballet I was struck by how the role demands every attribute a dancer has to offer. I also love Afternoon of a Faun, I've always been enamoured by the music for that piece by Debussy.
My greatest influences have been the people I've been trained by, especially Damara Bennett who was the director of Oregon Ballet School Theatre. She always challenged me to apply discipline and hard work to ballet, but most importantly gave me the opportunity to find passion through all that work.
