We were delighted to be nominated for Best Company at the Taglioni International Ballet Awards and even more delighted to win when the recipients of the awards were announced back in September 2014. Now we've got even more to celebrate after scooping even more awards and nominations!
First our Head of Stage, Sid Taylor, won the award for Oustanding Achievement in Stage Crew at the Technical Theatre Awards.
It has been an exciting first month in my new role as Dance Education Officer within the Learning Department at Northern Ballet. I have recently returned from my first trip on tour with the Company at Nottingham Theatre Royal for the production The Great Gatsby. I had a fabulous group of over 55s for a workshop which took place on the stage. The group was such a pleasure to teach!

Northern Ballet’s Ability is taking part in an exciting project with some of Mencap’s Young Ambassadors from the region. As part of the Look Beyond the Label campaign the two groups have been meeting to create a dance piece that will be performed as part of National Mencap Day.
However, the time and location are secret! We may drop the odd clue though...

The Company are back this week after phenomenal performances of The Great Gatsby in Woking and Nottingham and Cinderella in Norwich. Next week we take Cinderella to Newcastle and then on to Belfast, Manchester and Sheffield and The Great Gatsby to Canterbury and Bradford.
It's been a long time since my last Tales from Touring blog and in fact it's been about four months since the last time I was out and about with the Company in Southampton! Since then we've had a fantastic run of performances of the Mixed Programme at our Stanley & Audrey Burton Theatre, followed by a well-earned summer break for our dancers, six weeks of rehearsals and a stunning revival of Draculaat the West Yorkshire Playhouse.
