Last week ended with such riotous applause during the opening three performances of Dracula, luckily it continues it's run until Saturday 13 September and there's still tickets available so come and join us for this rare outing for the immortal Count.

Dracula 2005 - From the Archive

Dracula is back at West Yorkshire Playhouse this and next week - we first performed David Nixon's take on the immortal Count back in 2005 with David Paul Kierce as one of the leads. Kierce first got his teeth in to the role when David Nixon originally created the ballet for BalletMet, Ohio.

With our upcoming production of Dracula at the West Yorkshire Playhouse, last week we ran an event in collaboration with Leeds Central Library to show appreciation for all things gothic and supernatural and to address why Dracula is still as popular as ever in today’s arts and culture.

The dancers have been back since the end of July, but today there is something of the first day of term in the air.

Dracula opens at West Yorkshire Playhouse on Friday, running till Saturday 13 September. The Technical Team are there already laying the floor, installing the sets and lighting. The dancers will be there on Thursday for technical and dress rehearsals before the curtain goes up on Friday night.

In 1985 Robert de Warren (choreographer and Artistic Director) created a new ballet based on Shakespeare's Othello. In this pic the composer, Loris Tjeknavoran discusses the music with de Warren and dancers Marcello Angelini (Othello) and Daniela Buson (Desdemona).

Vamping up the Dark Arches

This week two sultry and mysterious characters were spotted in the atmospheric Dark Arches of Leeds as our dancers Alice Bayston and Isabelle Clough took to the tunnels to model the latest fashions in a vampire-inspired photo shoot with Harvey Nichols.

From the Archive - Swan Lake 1992

In 1992 Dennis Wayne choreographed a new Swan Lake using Tchaikovsky's score. The production was incredibly popular – it sold out much of it's thirty-plus city run, including two weeks in London.

From the archive - Sleeping Beauty 1984

In 1984 Northern Ballet Theatre (as we were known then) under the artistic direction of Robert de Warren restaged a classic version of Sleeping Beauty to the choreography of Marius Petipa.
