This week in Northern Ballet (21 July 2014)

Published on Monday 21 July, 2014

It's back to work this week for our dancers who we welcome back from a four-week summer holiday. We also look forward to meeting our 13 new Company members: Adeline Kaiser, Ayami Miyata, Miki Akuta, Gwénaëlle Poline Santos, Luke Francis, Riku Ito, Isabelle Clough, Heloise Bourgeat and Gavin McCaig. Also getting ready to join the Company are Academy of Northern Ballet Graduate Professional Programme graduates Filippo Di Vilio, Alice Bayston, Kiara Flavin and Dominique Larose. They'll be getting their Company head shots taken next week so you can get to know them all better.

In the studios the first week back is all about Dracula as the Company prepare to revive the production for the first time in five years. We'll be performing it exclusively at the West Yorkshire Playhouse in Leeds from 5 - 13 September so don't miss out!

Also on the agenda is the continuing creation of Elves & the Shoemaker which is choreographed by our Ballet Master Daniel de Andrade and we also look forward to welcoming Patricia Doyle back to Leeds where she will be working with our dancers on the scenario and characterisation for Dracula and The Great Gatsby for our upcoming autumn tour.

A catch-up on last week...

On Wednesday our Learning team held two special performances of our Accessible Dance Showing comprising performances by participants on our Accessible Dance Course which provides classes for those with mobility issues and learning difficulties. You can read more about it in our blog.

Last week our new Academy class timetables arrived which include details of all the classes the Academy of Northern Ballet offers. We have classes for everyone (aged 18 months and upwards) no matter what your level of experience, visit our Academy page for the timetable and for more information on our classes.

The Stanley & Audrey Burton Theatre was also busy this weekend as Leeds and Wakefield Theatretrain performed a double bill of Honk! and Annie
